In India, efforts are being made to preserve the history of the Cochin Jews. A lone congregant, Keith Hallegua, prays at the 458-year-old Paradesi Synagogue in Kochi's historic Jew Town neighborhood. He is the last local member of the community and often prays alone.

Elias "Babu" Josephai is another member of the community who remembers traditions from his childhood, such as eating fried dough balls during the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. Further details about the Cochin Jews and their history are available from KPRC 2 / Click2Houston.
