Mosquitos in Brazoria County have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The infected mosquitos were found in several locations, including areas in Pearland, Lake Jackson, and West Columbia. Mosquito Control crews will be taking action to address the issue, spraying the affected areas nightly for the next few nights.

They will also be monitoring mosquito activity in these locations later in the week. Residents can protect themselves from mosquito bites by using insect repellent and wearing protective clothing. Eliminating standing water around homes can also help.

For more information on the affected areas and prevention steps, further details are available from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
